In the midst of all the chaos of your daily life, meditation can be a life-saver. If you've already discovered the power of mindfulness meditation, this retreat is a perfect way to take your practice to the next level.
Led by WITHIN teacher Devon Pipars at our studio in downtown San Francisco, this half-day retreat will include: sitting meditation; walking meditation; inspiration from Devon; and Q&A.
What to Expect
Devon is an exceptional teacher with in-depth knowledge and training of meditation and the passion to share. I'm very thankful for my experiences learning with Devon as it's made me more present, confident and ultimately happier.
Danielle G., WITHIN Meditation student
A seeker of Truth and a meditator for 15 years, Devon spent the past few years (2013-2017) in constant study and practice of Advaita (non-duality) philosophy and meditation. Sitting at the feet of a Realized Master in the Himalayas of northern India, she had the rare opportunity and time to ask questions, challenge every single belief she had, and investigate thoroughly not only the nature of consciousness but also the key to living free of suffering.
Simply put, whatever level you are at, she can assist you to go deeper. For beginners, she offers several approaches to meditation, as well as tools form when you're encountering challenges meditating. For those established in their practice, she offers a deepening and maturing of that state of presence which is constantly available even while not meditating, through the examination of what meditation really is and why we need to do it.
Registration ($39) includes everything you need to feel comfortable while you sit (cushions, blankets, chairs and props). Bring a water bottle, and lunch or snacks to munch on during breaks.
How to Prepare
Doing a half-day retreat can seem daunting, if you've only sat for brief periods before. To help you get the most out of the experience, and put you at ease, WITHIN Cofounder Hannah Knapp will connect with you to offer guidance and advice the week before. She'll also check in with you after the retreat, to talk about your experience and help you integrate what you learn into your regular life.
Who Should Come
If you've been building a meditation practice for just a few weeks, or for several years, you'll appreciate the depth of stillness that comes with this half-day retreat. We recommend that you take a class with us at WITHIN, or sit with a meditation group near you, at least once before you go. To get a sense of Devon’s style, you can take one of her classes on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays (here’s when she’s teaching this week).
This retreat is not recommended if you have never practiced with guidance from a teacher in the mindfulness traditions (Zen or Vipassana) or sat with a group.
